Rocky Mountain Velo was created by a core group of experienced elite racers with the specific goal of providing a structure for developing future professional cyclists. Colorado has a long history of nurturing young talent through various junior development programs. Ultimately, a number of these young Colorado cyclists end up finding success through national development squads and then move on to domestic or Pro Tour professional teams. Once graduating from the junior program, the jump to a national level development program is a long and difficult road. A significant gap exists between the current junior development programs and Colorado cyclists aged 18-26 who have the talent and desire to pursue this path. In order to achieve success young riders must continue to improve their racing abilities, market their qualities as individuals and results as racers, develop connections in the industry, and understand how to represent sponsors at the highest level. Rocky Mountain Velo will provide the support network needed to deliver the next generation of professional riders to their future, through the Pedal p/b Cannondale Elite Development Team.
